| Research: IGERT (NSF) Idea Exchange |
|
Event Description The Integrated Graduate Research Education and Traineeship (IGERT) program from NSF for 2013 is likely to be announced with a due date for letters of intent in late spring to early summer. We expect that, as always, there will a limit of one proposal per institution, and therefore an internal review may be needed.
We will be announcing a call for white papers from interested groups later in the event an internal review is needed. Prior to that, in view of the fact that for such a program to be successful it needs a substantial, in-depth institutional commitment and involvement, we would also like to provide a forum for interested groups to meet and brainstorm their ideas and visions for their IGERTs with each other and the College Deans and VPR.
An IGERT Idea Exchange meeting is scheduled to take place on February 14 at 12 pm at UC 303. We would like this session to be an open brainstorming exchange of ideas- one representative from each group can present their key ideas in an informal round table format, followed by open discussion. Such an exchange can be an opportunity to develop and strengthen ideas and form broader coalitions.
