Event Description Most of today's renewable fuels are produced by converting the readily-available sugars in common food crops such as corn and sugarcane into ethanol. In her talk, Dr. Wachter will discuss how new technologies are driving growth in renewable fuels by (1) expanding the supply of sugars to include competitively-priced, cellulosic sugars and
(2) expanding the range of sugar-based products to include hydrocarbon fuels and chemicals, in addition to ethanol.
