Event Description The Richard O. and Cindy F. Connell Lecture Series presents Prof. Stanley Hauerwas with his lecture "America's God." In this lecture Prof. Hauerwas describes the challenge of being Protestant in America today. He argues that the ironic outcome of Protestantism's success in America is no longer intelligible to itself. For when Christianity becomes a matter of reifying modern notions of an autonomous "freedom" through a prioritizing of individual "belief" as it has in America, we can be sure that the god we are worshipping is not the same God who revealed himself in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
